Every year, teachers and educators around the country get to cash in on a variety of discounts for school supplies, arts and crafts materials, and books.
Never fear, homeschool families– we do too! It's pretty easy to sign up for an educator's membership / card / discount, but please note there are a few retailers who require an ID card or other proof.
You can order a hard plastic card from the Homeschool Buyer's Co-op, but these cards are a standard template. I wanted to create our cards from scratch, so I used IDCreator.com and uploaded my own design. You can also print your own on thick cardstock, and if possible, laminate the cards.
Barnes & Noble: The retailer offers educators a 20% discount on qualifying purchases year-round with its free discount program. During Back-to-School Educator Appreciation Days educators can get 25% off most merchandise in stores and online. To get the discounts, teachers need to a Barnes & Noble Educator Discount Card.
Ben Franklin Crafts & Frame Shop: Teachers receive 10% off all purchases all year round.
The Container Store: Various discounts throughout the year when you sign up for the Organized Teacher Program. Register online for a free discount card to use for in-store and online purchases. If you visit a store, be sure to have your Homeschool Teacher ID.
Half Price Books: All educators save 10% on every purchase all year long. The Discount Card must be renewed annually. Discount valid in-store only.
Jo-Ann Fabrics and Craft Stores: Teachers receive 15% off online & in-store on every purchase, every day.
Lakeshore Learning: Sign up for the Teacher’s Club and save 15% off of select items in-store, plus special offers every month.
Michael’s: Teachers get 15% off in-store and online for every purchase.
Office Depot / Office Max: Throughout the year, teachers regularly earn 2% back through the Office Depot OfficeMax Rewards program. During Teacher Appreciation Days in the summer, teachers can earn 20% back in store rewards on qualifying in-store purchases when they present a coupon, a valid teacher ID and a rewards number at checkout.
Scholastic Teacher Store: Build your library with their 50 for $50 bundles, and enjoy other discounted items from the Teacher Store.
Target Teacher Prep Event in July offers a 15% discount on school supplies, storage items, and more. All educators, including homeschoolers, are eligible. Registration is required to get your coupon for the weeklong event.
